I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. In 1975, I received an MFA from the University of California, Davis, where I studied with Harvey Himelfarb, Robert Frank, Van Deren Coke, Robert Arneson, and Wayne Thiebaud, among others. I am particularly drawn towards creating images that are optically accurate camera records. However, by introducing visual and intellectual ambiguity, I try to make images that do not completely conform to what the viewer expects in a photograph.
